Farmville Christmas Presents
Yay, presents! Everyone loves Christmas presents! Farmville’s getting in on all the Christmas action by allowing players to give each other gifts that they can open anytime from today until January 7th. Here’s some info about the presents that were lying under my Holiday Tree this Christmas season.
I had presents of all different colored wrappings. The basic presents included ones with blue, brown, pink, red, and green wrapping and the more unique ones were wrapped in orange, purple striped, polka-dotted, and coral. There’s also the option to trade five regular presents for a special gold present.
The first present I opened was a New Year Ball. I opened a brown present to get this item, but I think it’s the default item for all players when opening their first Christmas present. I haven’t taken this item out of my gift box yet as it doesn’t look as nice as some other items and I currently don’t have another place to store it. Also, the New Year Ball is an animated item and the ball drops and the countdown starts every so often, which might just get the slightest bit annoying after the novelty of the item wears off.
Two of the more unique items that I got was the Alien Cow and the Baby Turkey, neither of which I was expecting for the Christmas holiday. The Baby Turkey is super adorable and unfortunately not a giftable animal nor an animal that neighbors can find and share with their friends. Another cute gift this holiday season was the Lamb, which can be bought from the Farmville market with Farmville cash.
It doesn’t seem like there’s a trend of certain colored presents giving better gifts, as I’ve received a 1 Fuel Refill as well as a Lamb from opening the blue-colored present. It does seem like striped presents don’t give that great of gifts and polka presents give better than average gifts, but maybe that’s just a coincidence for me, since I had only three of each (compared with up to ten of the others). I’m not sure if order matters when opening presents either. It didn’t seem like it to me at least.
If you’re interested in trying to find a present-color/gift-received trend yourself, see below for which gifts I received from which colored presents.
***Update: December 25,2009 3:06 p.m. ET***
As I was opening a blue-colored present, I received a Mystery Box, which was automatically put into my gift box.
From my gift box, I could click to “use” the present, which means I can essentially put it anywhere on my farm as a gift box. From there, if I wanted to open it, I would just have to click on it.
After I clicked on the Mystery Box, it vanished in a few puffs of smoke and I received my prize… a Santa’s Workshop (worth 38 Farmville cash) in addition to 1000 XP — awesome prize! Gift box prizes tend to vary, but they’re also mostly things you can buy at the Farmville marketplace only with FV cash. XP is typically also part of the present when you open a Mystery Box.
